For over 25 years, I lived in Vancouver’s Chinatown, near to what is generally called East Vancouver. To this very day, my parents still hold fort; they’ve lived in the area for over four decades.

My bedroom window faced north, and as a wae lad, I awoke every day to the sight of Grouse Mountain – green against blue summer skies, enshrouded mysteriously by heavy cloud or rain, or frosted by fresh snow and shimmering under clear winter skies. I have never tired of the sight – I know I’ve arrived "home" when I see the Grouse.

This is my love story – this story is for my folks and friends in Vancouver, and for friends who once called Vancouver home.
